Nowadays there are many geology scholarships and grants available. Students who intend to start a career in one of the geological sciences qualify. Grants, available to undergraduate and graduate students, include research, field camp and general tuition. many associations, foundations, and organizations across the USA award scholarships and grants specific to geology majors.
The Indiana Oil and Gas Association (INOGA) awards 1 scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to an incoming student who wish to major in geology, or a currently enrolled student switching to a geology major. Students must be enrolled at the University of Southern Indiana to apply.
The Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute offers scholarships to full-time junior and senior students pursuing a career in engineering or mining-related industries. The institute selects one student from each of the RMCMI states: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, North Dakota, Montana, Utah and Wyoming. There are 2 types of scholarships:
1. The engineering/geology scholarships are for $2,500 and renewable for up to 2 years;
2. The technical scholarship is a $1,000 one-time present for students who wish to apply their education in the coal industry.

The University of Southern Indiana awards 8 scholarships to students demonstrating high levels of academic excellence. Applications, open to high school students applying to college for the first time, geology majors and earth-science teaching majors are reviewed by faculty.
Five scholarships, given in honor of Walter F. Sill, award to students showing academic achievements in geology, to a student showing promise who wants to study geology and to a student attending geology field camp.
The National Association of Geoscience Teachers offers $500 scholarships to students for field study. Moreover, NAGT offers $750 grants to two-year college faculty members and secondary school teachers to attend scientific meetings, buy classroom materials and take workshops.
Eastern Washington University offers 4 geology scholarships through the Department of Geology:
1. The Weissenborn Geology Scholarship is offered to senior level students majoring in geology.
2. The Rennebohm Geology Scholarship and the Felix E. Mutschler Memorial Scholarship are offered to lower classmen majoring in geology.
